Chicago Cubs Baseball Tickets Available

One of two Major League franchises in the Windy City, the Chicago Cubs are the reigning back-to-back champions of the National League Central Division. Along with the Atlanta Braves, ?The Cubbies,? as the team is popularly known, are the only remaining charter members of the NL.

The team last won a title in 1908, making its 100-year championship drought one of the longest of any major North American pro sports franchises. The team plays its home games at Wrigley Field, the Cubs? home since 1916, located at Chicago?s north side Lakeview community. The club is currently handled by manager Lou Piniella, with Jim Hendry as general manager and Sam Zell the owner following his purchase of the club?s parent organization, the Tribune Company. Zell, however, has put the club on the auction block.

Chicago Cubs Tickets ? Player Profile: Alfonso Soriano

People who buy Chicago Cubs tickets for the 2007 season of Major League Baseball will get a chance to see a new face in the outfield, that of Alfonso Soriano. Soriano was brought to Chicago in the off season along with several other free agents, including Ted Lilly, Jason Marquis, Cliff Floyd, and Mark De Rosa. The Soriano purchase was an expensive one for the Cubs, but they intend to get a lot out of this proven talent. The season is underway, and it’s too early to actually say whether bringing in Soriano was a good idea or not. That will have to wait for the end of the season. For now, let’s just learn a bit more about the new guy.

Chicago Cubs tickets are never a hard sell in the Windy City, and especially now that they have added a few more recognizable names, including Soriano, tickets should be even more sought-after. How did Soriano get to be so well-known? Most would say that he earned a lot of fans while he was with the New York

Back-To-Back N.L. Central Division Titles Boost Merchandise Sales for Chicago Cubs

Although not quite a world championship, two straight National League Division Titles is nothing to sneeze about, especially for a team with such a huge following as the Chicago Cubs. Coming off a lowly last place in the division for the 2006 season, the Cubs managed to string two straight winning seasons, and ended up winning two division titles, and despite failing to get past the first round, the fans have reacted positively to their efforts. For the past two seasons, sales of Chicago Cubs merchandise in online sports merchandise store diehardfans.com saw resurgence in sales reflective of their performance on the field.

Of the many categories of merchandise that can be found on the site, there are three particular Chicago Cubs sections that have received special attention from fans, resulting in a significant rise in sales. These are the Gifts Section, Jewelry Section, and Home Decor section.

Chicago Cubs Pitcher Mark Prior Re-signs

Chicago Cubs Pitcher Mark Prior Re-signs

After many trips through the rumor mill, Mark Prior accepted the Chicago Cubs’ offer on January 27 to a one-year, .65 million contract. That is 0,000 more than the salary he would have earned under the contract he voided in November. Since Prior’s definitive season in 2003 (18-6), he has cooled off somewhat, and has only managed to go 17-11 over the past two seasons. The Cubs were within five outs of reaching the World Series in 2003, due, in part, to Prior’s performance. A sore elbow put him on the disabled list early last season, and when he entered the normal rotation again, he was hit on the same elbow by a scorching line drive. He finished the 2005 season going 11-7 with a 3.67 ERA over 27 games.

The Chicago Cubs’ pitcher, whose name has been mentioned as possible trade bait this off-season, said that he was not too upset at the rumors because he figured they were just that — rumors. Rumor had it that he was going to the Philadelphia Phillies in

The Chicago Cubs’ Legend – Ernie Banks

The Chicago Cubs’ Legend – Ernie Banks

It is often difficult to compare the legendary players of Major League Baseball in that by making comparisons based on statistics, the focus generally falls on the sheer performance on the field. It also tends to reflect on what effect those numbers have had in the teams’ success and how an individual players’ success has bolstered a team to championship levels. Other players, no matter how individually successful, are too often viewed in an also-ran status because of the perception that their effort never was enough to allow the team to stand on a championship podium. Baseball is a team sport, yet a team sport loosely based on individual effort. Looking past the numbers to the intangibles of attitude and enthusiasm for the game, the greatness of a player cannot be judged merely on statistics. Ernie Banks is one such player in MLB history.

Ernie Banks was one of the greatest players, coaches and personalities to ever don a Cubs Uniform. Considered by many
